Adhami of Schuckman Realty represents Global Restaurant Chain in first Long Island Location

A global restaurant chain will soon open its first location on Long Island as part of the company’s area expansion.

Bonchon, a growing South Korea-based chain of fast-casual fried chicken eateries, will open in a 2,150-square-foot space in the Centereach Square shopping center at 141 Centereach Mall in Centereach. A company franchisee, AARR Inc., is building the new restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Dickie’s Barbecue Pit, and the Bonchon is slated to open on March 19, according to the company’s website.

Founded by Jinduk Seo in Busan, South Korea in 2002, Bonchon opened its first U.S. restaurant in Fort Lee, N.J. in 2006. The company now has over 400 locations worldwide, including 160 in the U.S.

Bonchon, which translates in English to “my hometown,” offers a menu of Korean-style fried chicken served with a variety of sauces. The chain’s restaurants feature appetizers including potsticker dumplings, Bulgogi fries (seasoned French fries topped with marinated beef and cheese), shrimp shumai, Takoyaki (fried octopus dumplings), bao buns, Korean tacos, and more.

Bonchon’s main dishes include chicken katsu, tteokbokki (rice and fish cakes simmered in broth), japchae (glass noodles and Bulgogi), udon noodle soup, and more. The restaurant also features sides like French fries, onion rings, kimchi, steamed rice, and pickled radish. It offers Korean donuts for dessert.

Some of the chain’s franchisees are exploring other sites on Long Island to open additional stores in the near future. A Bonchon franchisee has leased a 2,350-square-foot space in the Samanea New York Mall in Westbury, which is under construction and expected to open later this year, according to Colliers broker Matthew Kucker, who represented the tenant along with his Colliers colleagues Jordan Baruch and Dominic Collucio, head of real estate for the mall.

Ryan Adhami of Schuckman Realty represented the Bonchon franchisees in the Centereach and Westbury leases, while James Valenti, Jeremy Isaacs, Brian Von Schmid, and Daniel Glazer of RIPCO Real Estate represented the landlord, Bridge 33, in the Centereach lease transaction.
